A pair of GP9s pulls a Chessie System general merchandise train from Cumberland to Pittsburgh. Today's train has several carloads of float glass manufactured by PPG in Cumberland. These cars are ultimately bound for Detroit. Chessie System is part of today's CSX
Trains of Montana- The Great Northern
Great Northern helped develop much of Northern Montana, as its iron highway delivered supplies, transported crops at harvest and was the means of travel. Great Northern brochures for its flagship Empire Builder advertised the majesty of Glacier National Park and the beauty of Montana which could be seen from Great Dome cars. Great Northern is part of today's BNSF Railway.
